Netflix To Put Out Ricky Gervais’ OFFICE Spin-Off Film

Remember David Brent: Life on the Road? It’s Ricky Gervais’ new film which tells the further adventure’s of The Office’s (the original one, obviously) David Brent, a character people might not even remember liking at this point. Though I’m not sure they were “liking” him much in the first place. Disliking him was kind of the point.

In any case, the movie is still coming out. eOne will distribute the film in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, and there’s an expected theatrical run in August. Netflix gets the rest, starting in 2017.

Gervais revealed this on the Opie with Jim Norton Show, claiming “This is exciting news and this is top secret, so I’m going to say it now. Netflix has bought out the rest of the world again.” I thank Deadline for transcribing that quote as it saves me from listening to the Opie with Jim Norton Show and Ricky Gervais’ voice all at the same time.

As you can probably tell, this is not especially exciting news to me, but I know lots of people probably have fond memories of The Office. Hopefully this makes your day just a tiny bit better than it was before.
