Ron Perlman, Anton Yelchin And Kelsey Grammer Join Guillermo Del Toro’s TROLLHUNTERS

Stop me if you've heard this one: Hellboy, Frasier and Chekhov walk into a sound booth...

According to a new report on Deadline, Anton Yelchin (Green Room, Star Trek), Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Pacific Rim) and Kelsey Grammer (Frasier) have joined the cast of Guillermo del Toro's animated Netflix series, Trollhunters.

What's Trollhunters about? I'm glad you asked!

Trollhunters features a tale of two fantastical worlds set to collide in an epic saga. Set in the fictional suburb of Arcadia, our unlikely hero, Jim (Yelchin), and his two best friends make a startling discovery that beneath their hometown lies a hidden battle between good trolls and bad, the outcome of which will impact their lives forever.

Yelchin’s Jim is an ordinary teenage boy whose discovery of a mystical amulet sets his life on a course filled with high-stakes adventure. Grammer plays Blinky, a kind-hearted troll who befriends Jim; and Perlman provides the voice of Bular, a sinister troll who targets Jim and his friends for battle.

The series is based on a novel of the same name co-written by del Toro and Daniel Kraus. It started life as an animated feature at Dreamworks Animation, but that plan fell through. When it did, del Toro and Kraus turned the original story into an illustrated novel. Presumably, that novel's sales are what brought Dreamworks Animation and Netflix back to the yard, and now...here we are. Here's hoping all this back and forth has been worth it (considering the players, it almost certainly will be)!

Trollhunters debuts on Netflix this December. We're looking forward to it.
