Here’s Your First Look At Tom Hanks In Clint Eastwood’s SULLY
Today EW dropped a brand-new photo from Clint Eastwood's Sully on us. That's it below - Tom Hanks (as Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, the pilot who heroically landed his Airbus A320 on the Hudson River back in 2009, saving the 155 lives of the people onboard) standing next to Aaron Eckhart (playing co-pilot Jeffrey Skiles) - and it's being billed as our "first look" at Eastwood's film.
At the risk of being pedantic, this technically isn't our first look at the film; we got that back in December (it's the photo at the top of this page, and also came to us via EW). Weird, but whatever! Let's just move things along and look at the newest photo.
That is definitely a photo of Tom Hanks and Aaron Eckhart as Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger and Jeffrey Skiles!
But wait, there's more: we've also got a look at the film's first poster, via The Playlist:
Oh, boy. I really hate to do this, but I've gotta get pedantic again: what is going on in this poster? That's Sully out the window of an airplane - presumably his own, and presumably floating in the Hudson River (hence that wave) - but how is Sully standing in the water like that? Is he on the wing? If so, how'd he get out there without getting, y'know, soaked in whatever passes for water in the Hudson River? My man's hair is bone dry.
Absolutely none of this speaks to the film's quality, of course! Shit's just weird, is all.
Anyway, my PR sense is tingling, which means we're probably going to have a Sully trailer in the very near future. I'm curious to see what this thing looks like in action (I'm also curious to know how much of the film actually takes place aboard/around the plane; if I remember correctly, this entire event went down rather quickly), so we'll have that for you whenever it arrives.
In the meantime, ponder the mysteries of that poster in the comments below.
