Justin Timberlake Joins Woody Allen’s Next Film
Here's an interesting development: Justin Timberlake has joined the cast of Woody Allen's next film, which will also include Kate Winslet, Juno Temple, and - somewhat tragically - Jim Belushi.
Here's the news, per Variety:
The film, written and directed by Allen, is a drama set in New York City in the late 1950s. Allen is producing with Letty Aronson, Erika Aronson and Edward Walson. The pic marks Allen’s 48th feature and begins shooting in New York this fall.
I'm old enough to remember a time when Timberlake landing a film role was snickered at, or written off as a bit of pop star stunt-casting. Those days are long gone. We live in a new age now, one where Timberlake being cast in a Woody Allen film (or a Coen Bros. movie, or a David Fincher joint) barely raises an eyebrow. It has, in fact, become sort of a reason to celebrate: Timberlake has more than acquitted himself over the past decade. Dude brings a very particular, enjoyable energy to his performances, and with one or two notable exceptions (About Time, for instance), the films he appears in are always worth checking out.
What do you guys think? You as happy as I am to see Timberlake working with these big-time directors? Who would you like to see him work with next?
