Legendary’s Developing An HP Lovecraft Anthology TV Series

Iä! Iä! Cthulhu fhtagn!

So, the folks over at Bleeding Cool just landed one helluva scoop. Here's the news:

Bleeding Cool recently learned that Legendary TV has been developing the mother-of-all-Lovecraft projects: an anthology series that includes characters, locations and story-lines from sixteen of Lovecraft’s most popular tales including The Call of CthulhuThe Shadow Over InnsmouthThe Dunwich Horror and many more.

Bleeding Cool goes on to say that Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and Dan McDermott are onboard to produce the series, that Matthew Francis Wilson's writing the pilot script, and that part of the deal would involve this being the "first TV series approved by the Lovecraft Estate".

I'm on record as a big Lovecraft fan (mostly for his singular approach to existential horror, much less so for his unrepentant racism), so, as you might imagine, I'm very much onboard with this concept.

Skeptical, but onboard. It is, after all, entirely possible that this'll end up becoming a terrible SyFy series, but for right now - with no further information and nothing but the future ahead of us - it's still just as likely that Legendary will deliver something awesome and worthy of the Lovecraft name. Who knows? Maybe they'll even get their ol' buddy Guillmero del Toro involved.

That's all we got for the time being, but stay tuned. We'll be keeping a close eye on this one.
