Things Are Getting Mystical AF In These New DOCTOR STRANGE Images

Over the weekend, Entertainment Weekly revealed two new images from November's Doctor Strange. They are colorful, dynamic, and - for a Strange noob like myself - very intriguing, because I have no idea what I'm looking at. 

This might actually be a good opportunity for you guys to help teach me a bit about Doctor Strange, a character I know next to nothing about. Here's my question: if you're a Strange supernerd, can you look at the photo above and identify what spell he's using?

I'm thinking of Harry Potter, where a photo of Harry summoning a stag would be immediately identifiable as a Patronus charm. Can you similarly identify what Stephen Strange is doing in the photo above? I'm guessing not, but I am curious. 

And here's a photo of Strange learning another spell (?), under the tutelage of The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton). I have no idea what's going on here, either.

But y'know what? Knowing next to nothing about the Doctor Strange world is really exciting to me. I was similarly unfamiliar with Guardians Of The Galaxy when it arrived, and that film remains my all-time favorite Marvel movie.

I love everything I've seen from Doctor Strange so far, and can't wait to see it when it opens on November 4th.
