Emily Mortimer Joins MARY POPPINS RETURNS
So far, Rob Marshall's Mary Poppins sequel, Mary Poppins Returns, is coming along nicely: it's already signed Lin-Manuel Miranda, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and Ben Wishaw to star, and now it's gone and added another talented cast member to the mix.
Per The Wrap, Emily Mortimer has joined the cast as the adult version of Jane Banks, the young girl who - along with her brother, Michael - got a dose of Mary Poppins' sugary medicine back in the 1964 original (Wishaw will be playing the adult version of Michael).
As you're surely also aware, Blunt will be playing Mary Poppins, Miranda will be playing a new character by the name of Lamplighter Jack (his backstory is, he was something of an apprentice to the character Dick Van Dyke played in the original, so he knows all about Poppins' mad life-lesson skillz), and Streep will be playing Poppins' cousin, Topsy.
Mary Poppins Returns doesn't arrive until 2018, so we've got a ways to go on this one. Stay tuned for further updates as they become available.
