Disney’s Taking The Rock On A JUNGLE CRUISE
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney's officially launching another big-budget tentpole based on one of their rides, and they've even convinced The Rock to headline the thing.
Here's the news:
"(The Rock) has closed a deal to star in Jungle Cruise, Disney’s live-action adaptation of its iconic theme park ride. Johnson has found room in his busy schedule, slotting the movie in for a spring 2018 start of production.
Jungle Cruise is one of the Disneyland’s original rides and takes park-goers on a journey through a range of leafy settings such as Africa’s Nile and Congo rivers as well as South America’s Amazon."
Yes, The Rock will star in Disney's Jungle Cruise, which - according to IMDb - is the tenth project The Rock currently has in pre-production or development. Other titles include Doc Savage, San Andreas 2 (maybe it's time to move), Journey 3: From The Earth To The Moon (holy shit, they're doing another one of those?), Black Adam and Shazam (wait, what?), Jumanji 2: Welcome To The Jungle (y'know, like the song), Rampage (working title: The Rock VS Big-Ass Monsters), Skyscraper (basically The Rock's very own Towering Inferno), the long-rumored Big Trouble In Little China remake ($10 says it never happens) and Fighting With My Family (I don't have a joke for this one). So, yeah, gonna be plenty of The Rock to go around over the next few years.
As for Disney's Jungle Cruise ride being turned into a movie: yeah, sure, why not? This is the extent of my response to that pitch.
Stay tuned for more as Jungle Cruise works its way towards that Spring 2018 start date.
