Here’s A New Photo From Steven Soderbergh’s LOGAN LUCKY
Thanks to the folks at Entertainment Weekly, we've got the second-ever photo from Steven Soderbergh's Logan Lucky - the director's first film in four years, believe it or not - which arrives in theaters this August.
Let's take a look.
So, from left to right you've got Channing Tatum, Riley Keough, Adam Driver and Adam Driver's fake arm. No idea what's up with that arm, but we're certainly curious to find out. You think that thing's rubber or plastic?
Anyway, in addition to the photo, EW also scored an interview with the director, and - as is usually the case with Soderbergh interviews - it's jam-packed with interesting details. The bulk of the chat centers around Logan Lucky's unique distribution model, but there's also this killer quote about the film itself:
On the most obvious level, it’s the complete inversion of an Ocean’s movie. It’s an anti-glam version of an Ocean’s movie. Nobody dresses nice. Nobody has nice stuff. They have no money. They have no technology. It’s all rubber band technology, and that’s what I thought was fun about it. It seemed familiar to me, but different enough. The landscape, the characters, and the canvass were the complete opposite of an Ocean’s film. What was weird is that I was working as a producer on Ocean’s Eight while we were shooting Logan, and it was kind of head-spinning. That’s like a proper Ocean’s film. This is a version of an Ocean’s movie that’s up on cement blocks in your front yard.
Real talk: the first time I read through that, I thought Soderbergh said "rubber hand technology", probably because I can't stop staring at Adam Driver's prosthetic arm. You think he lost it in a hunting accident or what? Caught in an, I dunno, a tractor or something? Blown off in a meth lab explosion? This official plot synopsis provides nary a hint:
Trying to reverse a family curse, brothers Jimmy and Clyde Logan set out to execute an elaborate robbery during the legendary Coca-Cola 600 race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Oh, shit, a curse? I bet that's what happened to Adam Driver's arm!
Logan Lucky arrives on August 18th and it's one of our most anticipated movies of the year. How 'bout you guys?
