Adam Sandler’s Next Netflix Film, THE WEEK OF, To Co-Star Chris Rock
Most Adam Sandler movies are bad. Often, they’re extremely bad. But deep down, I still like him.
Or I want to like him. He makes it hard, but every once in a while he makes a comedy that is actually good. Zohan is like that, as is his gloriously R-rated That’s My Boy. With so many shit movies, it’s hard to remember the guy used to be hilarious.
So I’m always hoping for Adam Sandler to get it right. My hope is a little higher than normal for this next Netflix movie, The Week Of. It co-stars Chris Rock and has a plot about two dads whose children are about to marry each other.
But that’s not what gives me my hope. My likely foolish optimism instead comes from the fact that this will be directed by Robert Smigel, from a script he co-wrote with Sandler.
Smigel, who writes with Sandler often, rules. The mere fact that he’s directing this does not mean it’s a slam dunk by any means, but it certainly has an automatic leg-up that most Sandler movies lack. So when this shit hits Netflix, sometime next year, I will be there.
