Mondo’s Releasing The MASTER OF NONE Soundtrack On Vinyl

This is gonna be a great album.

Today, the second season of Aziz Ansari and Alan Yang's Master Of None arrives on Netflix (welp, that's my evening sorted), and to celebrate the show's return, Mondo has just announced that it's bringing the show's second season soundtrack to vinyl.

This is exciting for several reasons, not least of which is the fact that Master Of None's first season had an incredible soundtrack (the first episode alone featured cuts from Aphex Twin, New Edition, Young Buck and Brian Eno). Given Mondo's track record and the care that Ansari and company clearly put into selecting songs for this series, there's zero doubt in my mind that the Master Of None - Season Two soundtrack will be just as memorable.

Here's the press release:

"Best known for his role on the award-winning series Parks And Recreation, comedian Aziz Ansari stars, writes, and directs Master Of None with co-creator Alan Yang. The Emmy Award-winning Netflix original comedy series is loosely based on Ansari’s own life experiences. Master Of None follows the personal and professional life of Dev, a 30-year-old actor in New York who has trouble deciding what he wants to eat, much less the pathway for the rest of his life. Master Of None has been critically-acclaimed for many reasons, including its incredible use of music. The songs used in season one (which Pitchfork called "prolific and distinctive") set the tone for Dev, and his initial misadventures in New York. But season two's narrative launch in Italy takes the soundtrack into equally distinct and diverse musical directions.

Produced by Music Supervisors Zach Cowie and Ansari himself, the soundtrack to season two, features an incredible mix of everything from Italian Pop and Disco (Mina, and Pino D'Angiò respectively), American crooners (Bobby Charles) and even African folk (Canco Hamisi)."

"Pressed on 2x 180gram colored vinyl, and housed in a stunning gatefold jacket designed by artist Jay Shaw (who designed the title sequences for the show) the soundtrack for Master Of None - Season Two is essential for fans of the show, and mix-tape albums. Available for Pre-Order beginning May 12th on mondotees.com.

The release will also be available on Tunes and on CD through our friends at Lakeshore Records."

Here's a peek at what the interior of the album will look like. Wareheim alert!

We asked Mondo's Record Label Manager, Mo Shafeek, for comment on the release, and here's what he had to say:

"With the sudden resurgence of the modern mix-tap album, a la Guardians Of The Galaxy, it's easy to forget how educational they can truly be. The soundtrack to Master Of None - Season Two is a crash course in Italian dance pop (amongst other inspired needle drops). It's cool without ever being pretentious, and - more importantly - it's fun without being obvious."

Mondo's Master Of None S2 soundtrack is now available for pre-order at Mondo's website. Head on over there and pick up a copy while supplies last!
