New Trailer For WOLFENSTEIN II Must Be Seen To Be Believed

Drop what you're doing and watch this.

E3's in full swing right now, and last night it was Bethesda's turn to pull back the curtain on their slate of upcoming titles. New, VR-formatted versions of Fallout 4 and Doom were revealed, The Evil Within 2 announced itself via an exceptionally odd trailer, the third Dishonored game got dated for October, and - last, but certainly not least - Bethesda unveiled a staggeringly cool trailer for Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus.

Folks, you have to see this.

Yes, Wolfenstein II is bringing the action to an alternate-history America, one where the Nazis won and Klansmen now openly roam the streets as casually as neighborhood beat cops. Clearly, this title has been in development for years (you don't put these things together overnight), but - much like Ubisoft's forthcoming Far Cry 5 - it would appear that Wolfenstein II's timeliness is something of not-so-happy accident. This trailer would play completely differently in a reality where, say, a few elections turned out differently.

Our own Andrew Todd will be along in a bit with a deeper dive into that side of things, though, so let's take this opportunity to dwell on the surface level details: the live-action sequence that opens this trailer is excellent ("German Or Else!"), the motion-capture work appears to be top notch (that is The Last Of Us-level animation), the new characters look fun and compelling, and the set pieces look appropriately epic. We cannot wait to get our hands on this thing.

Stay tuned for that Mr. Todd editorial. In the meantime: did you folks play Wolfenstein: The New Order? Pumped for The New Colossus? Do you think all future Wolfenstein games will have "New" in the title? Sound off in the comments below.
