Things Get Mysterious In The New BLADE RUNNER 2049 Trailer

In Villeneuve we trust.

A new trailer for Denis Villeneuve's Blade Runner 2049 dropped this morning, and it's just as mysterious, gorgeous and strange as every other piece of footage we've seen from this film. Everything seems to be in its right place...

...but please, God, let this one be as great as we think it's gonna be.

So, bunch of new stuff in this one! The trailer kicks off with some brand-new footage involving a tense encounter between Ryan Gosling's K and Dave Bautista's (Character Name Unknown). We get a further look at what's become of Los Angeles since the original Blade Runner. There's new dialogue from Harrison Ford, Jared Leto, and the great Robin Wright. Oh, and that conspicuous shot of Ryan Gosling bursting through a solid wall has been excised. Nothing to see here, move along.

Here's an official plot synopsis, should you require one:

"Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years."

That Hollywood made a sequel to Blade Runner still strikes me as incredible. That they managed to get Denis Villeneuve to direct it is fortuitous. That Villeneuve appears to have maybe - maybe! - pulled it all off is nothing short of miraculous. We are hyped, and we are rooting for this one to succeed. How about you folks?

Blade Runner 2049 arrives on October 6th.
