It’s Official: BLADE RUNNER 2049 Will Be Rated R

In which one of the year's most heavily-anticipated films gets MPAA'd.

It seemed unlikely that Denis Villeneuve's Blade Runner 2049 would arrive with a PG-13 rating, but just in case you weren't sure: according to The Playlist, the MPAA has officially given the film an R rating for "violence, some sexuality, nudity & language."

Now that we've got that confirmation in front of us, it seems silly to think anyone would've been worried about this in the first place. For one thing, the R-rating is not the box office cooler it once was. For another, a lack of profanity and/or nudity wouldn't necessarily preclude Blade Runner 2049 from being good.

But, hey, it's a moot point now. Blade Runner 2049's rated R, all is right with the world, and we're still hyped to see the film when it opens on October 6th.
