Composer Podcast: Graham Reynolds Scores A SCANNER DARKLY

So what does a scanner see? I’m still debating that question, but I know what they hear. Tony Giles is back with another fantastic podcast from Lakeshore Records. This time Tony chats with composer Graham Reynolds who scribed the score for Richard Linklater’s hand-rotoscoped fever dream A Scanner Darkly (2006). If you haven’t already seen it, A Scanner Darkly is one of the most unique and mesmerizing films you’ll ever see. Based on a novel by Philip K. Dick, it’s as thought-provoking as it is beautiful, and its kaleidoscopic imagery will transfix you in your seat. 

Graham Reynolds complemented Linklater’s imagery with equally colorful music that is as unpredictable as its visual counterpart. Tony talks with Graham about his work on the film, and gives some behind-the-scenes stories regarding the progress of creating the score.
