PSA: The Next CLOVERFIELD Movie Arrives In April

In which GOD PARTICLE moves release dates yet again.

There's been a lot of chatter recently as to whether or not God Particle would still hit theaters in February, as has long been the plan. On the one hand, it seemed insane that the film might be less than two months out and still have no trailer or marketing presence to speak of. On the other hand, this is the next installment in Bad Robot's mysterious Cloverfield franchise, so it wasn't entirely outside the realm of possibility that all involved were simply playing things close to the vest.

As it turns out, they weren't being coy: God Particle (or whatever it ends up being called) has officially been pushed back, yet again, to April 20th. Our friends over at Slashfilm got the news directly from Paramount, who did not offer an explanation for the delay.

This is surely disappointing to anyone who was hoping to see the new Cloverfield jam in February, but what's another two months? And besides, we knew almost nothing about 10 Cloverfield Lane when it arrived back in 2016, and look how that turned out (ed. note - it was awesome).

God Particle is the first feature film from Julius Onah. Its connection to the current Cloverfield mythology remains unknown, but we do know the film revolves around "a team of astronauts aboard an international space station who find themselves alone after a scientific experiment involving a particle accelerator makes the entire Earth vanish" (ed. note #2 - holy shit), and we also know the cast kicks serious ass (Daniel Brühl, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Chris O’Dowd, David Oyelowo and Zhang Ziyi are all onboard).

When will we see the first trailer? Probably soon. When will we see the movie? Again, April 20th. You folks as hyped for this one as we are? Let us know where you stand on the Cloverfield franchise in the comments below.
