Here’s Some Actual Gameplay From The CALL OF CTHULHU Video Game

Heads up, Lovecraft fans.

We've been monitoring the progress on Cyanide's Call Of Cthulhu: The Official Videogame for some time now. How could we not? A first-person Lovecraft video game based on the Cthulhu mythos, with mystery/investigative elements, action, and cosmic horror overtones? We couldn't be more into the idea if we tried.

Well, it's been a while since we heard anything new on the Call Of Cthulhu: The Official Videogame front (apparently, Cyanide planned to release the game to PS4, XBOX One and PCs last year, only to hit delays), but today we're excited to have a brand-new look at the game in action.

See what you think.

On the one hand, this isn't the most dynamic five minutes of game footage we've ever seen; taken out of context, this is basically just another "comb the crime scene for clues/conversations you can interact with" title. But the atmosphere appears to be dead-on, the voice acting seems solid, and - let's be honest with ourselves and our readers - any HP Lovecraft game that would eschew atmosphere and tone in favor of shoot-'em-up action set pieces wouldn't be a Lovecraft adaptation worth getting excited about (see Bethesda's wildly underappreciated 2005 title, Call Of Cthulhu: Dark Corners Of The Earth, to see Lovecraft gaming done right).

At the time of this writing, Cyanide still hasn't set a firm release date for Call Of Cthulhu: The Official Videogame, but you can rest assured that we're monitoring the situation closely, and will have further updates for you as they roll in.
