#GogginsWatch2018: Walton Goggins Will Headline The LA CONFIDENTIAL TV Series

Very exciting news: according to The Hollywood Reporter, national treasure and all-around bad motherfucker Walton Goggins has officially signed on to headline CBS' forthcoming L.A. Confidential series, to be based upon the classic James Ellroy crime novel of the same name.

Here's how THR's describing the show:

"CBS' L.A. Confidential is described as a 2018 treatment in terms of tone, music and style. The paths of three homicide detectives, a female reporter and an up-and-coming actress intersect while the detectives pursue a sadistic serial killer among the secrets and lies of glamorous and gritty 1950s Los Angeles."

Who's Goggins playing? I'm glad you asked:

"Goggins will take on the role of Detective Jack Vincennes, who is described as all swagger and flash with a movie star smile. He knows how the system works and uses it to his best advantage, including some corrupt shakedowns on the side. Kevin Spacey played the role in the 1997 feature film, which was also based on Ellroy's book."

That, my friends, is the perfect role for Goggins (also, as True Goggins Believers already know, this isn't our dude's first foray into televised crime-drama territory: Goggins also appeared on FX's The Shield and Sons Of Anarchy, both of which should be considered mandatory viewing for any fledgling Goggins superfan; to hear that he's getting back in the game - and in such a high-profile project! And in the perfect role! - is incredibly exciting, and immediately establishes CBS' series as one we'll be tuning into from night one). We are hyped.

So, what else do we know about the series? Well, THR says Anna Fricke (of the CW's Valor) will executive produce and showrun the series, and that Gotham's Jordan Harper penned the pilot (eeeeh). No word on when shooting might commence or when L.A. Confidential might land, but don't you worry: we'll be keeping a close eye on this one, and will provide updates as they roll in.
