Los Angeles: Win Tickets To LEPRECHAUN!

It's the 25th anniversary of the film that started it all!

Los Angeles' Screamfest film festival takes place in October, but recently they've kept the brand running year-long with a series of anniversary screenings at the same historic venue: the TCL Chinese (formerly Mann's) in Hollywood. Following last month's sold out, special guest-packed 30th anniversary of NOES 4: The Dream Master, they will be celebrating St. Patrick's Day in style with a 25th anniversary celebration of the original Leprechaun, starring Warwick Davis as the title character and a then-unknown Jennifer Aniston as one of the people he spends the movie trying to kill. Writer/director Mark Jones as well as actor John Sanderford will be on hand for a Q&A moderated by yours truly, and your ticket nets you a free Breckenridge Nitro Irish Stout beer (21+, obviously) as well as a chance to win a scavenger hunt if you show up a bit early to participate. Details on how to enter that are available HERE, and it's also where you can buy tickets for the event, which happens on Saturday, March 17th at 7:30pm (come earlier for the hunt). But we'd like to send you and a pal to the event for free!

Now, normally I do something like "favorite kill from the series" or whatever, but in this particular case I'd like to do something different. See, I was a young lad of only thirteen when I saw Leprechaun, and thus the right age to start being very interested in the lovely women who starred in the horror movies I watched. Being quite smitten with Ms. Aniston, I eagerly awaited seeing her in something else, only to be crushed to discover she would be sitting out 1994's Leprechaun 2. Instead, she decided to take a gig on a sitcom called Friends - have you heard of it? I kid, of course - it's one of the most popular and, I'm not ashamed to admit, enduring TV shows of all time. But how many people watched it - at least at first - only because it had the girl from Leprechaun? *raises hand* Just me? OK.

So I want to know - what's the best thing you ever saw primarily because it featured an actor/actress crush? Doesn't have to be horror related. Just like, you walked into the theater or set a season pass on your DVR just to swoon over this or that person, not particularly interested in the film/show otherwise, but ended up genuinely enjoying it and finding much more to appreciate than just a pretty face? I mean, I have to assume I probably would have seen Friends sooner or later even if I never saw Leprechaun, but in retrospect I find it hilarious that, despite not being much of a sitcom fan, I was inspired to watch the premiere of what would become a cultural phenomenon only because I liked the girl who got chased around by Warwick Davis and his limericks. Top that with your own tale by commenting below for your chance to win! Get your entries in by Thursday the 15th as I'll be notifying the winner then (please try to include your twitter handle or something so that I can find you easily!). And if you'd like to share your story even if you can't make the screening, that's fine (encouraged, even) but obviously please note that you can't actually make the show. Good luck, and see you there!
