CONFIRMED: The Robots In WESTWORLD Can Poop

If you're anything like us, you don't need to be told that Westworld returns to HBO this weekend (just in case: Westworld returns to HBO this weekend). We've been waiting on the return of this series ever since that first season finale aired back in 2016, and our hype levels are running perilously high. The murder! The mayhem! The mysteries! We can't wait to dive back into all of it.

Especially those mysteries. While season one wrapped up a fair number of dangling threads (a lot of them via the excessive application of bullets), a few lingering questions remain: what's up with that Samurai World we glimpsed during the season one finale? Will season two maintain the dueling timelines structure of season one? And - perhaps most importantly - are we ever gonna find out if these robots go to the bathroom?

As it turns out, we don't have to wait for Sunday's season premiere for the answer on that last one. In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Westworld showrunner Lisa Joy has settled the debate once and for all. Asked what the hosts' (read: robots') limitations are, Joy says:

"The hosts are basically organic. It’s cheaper that way to print them out. They eat, they sleep, they have sex, they can poop. It’s really like a human body with the one difference being where we have a brain, they have a CPU. There’s a lot of potential for them. If you had a part of your brain that was a computer, self improvement would be a lot easier. The season will be exploring the intersection of where and how they’re human and some of the ways they can manipulate their own programming."

That's right, folks - the robots in Westworld can poop. And while this may be speculation on our parts, we submit to you that these robots probably poop far more efficiently than humans. I mean, they're robots. If they're programmed to do everything we can do, only better, it would stand to reason that they're also more precise when they're on the john.
