Robert Pattinson Joins David Michôd’s Shakespearean Netflix Original THE KING

Robert Pattinson's been on a total roll lately, giving one of the best performances of 2017 in the Safdie Bros' Good Time. Now, he's re-teaming with Australian auteur David Michôd - for whom he co-starred with Guy Pearce in the director's underrated post apocalyptic Mad Max riff, The Rover - in his Netflix Original, The King. 

Inspired by elements of Shakespeare’s Henry IV and Henry V, The King revolves around:

"A young, disgraced prince, Hal inherits the crown and must learn what it means to be a king, guided by his one true friend, Falstaff."

Co-written by Joel Edgerton (The Gift) and Michôd, anything these two collaborate on is totally worth a look. But holy shit man, look at this murderer's row of actors: 

Edgerton will be playing Falstaff; Timothée Chalamet (Call Me By Your Name) will be playing Hal; Pattinson will be playing The Dauphin; Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One) will be playing King Henry IV;  Lily-Rose Depp will be playing Princess Catherine; and Sean Harris (Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation) will be playing William. 

Good Lord, that's a crew of heavy hitters. The King will be hitting Netflix sometime next year, but we will definitely be keeping an eye on this one, as the Original just went into production in the UK.
