Tracking Eichmann: The Trailer For OPERATION FINALE Lets Oscar Isaac Hunt Nazis
It's actually somewhat crazy that it took this long for the story behind Operation Finale to hit the big screen.
The latest film from Chris Weitz (A Better Life) details the Mossad’s attempt to capture one of Hitler’s top lieutenants after WW II. Adolph Eichmann (Ben Kingsley) was a chief architect behind the Final Solution, and fled to Argentina after the war. That’s where Peter Malkin (Oscar Isaac) and his team sought to snag the war criminal and bring him back to Israel to stand trial for his heinous crimes against humanity.
Now, we have a trailer for Weitz's movie, which looks rather gorgeous, and sports one hell of a supporting cast: Mélanie Laurent, Lior Raz, Nick Kroll, Peter Strauss, and Haley Lu Richardson.
Take a look for yourself:
Hell yes. I am always down for a great spy tale, but already knowing the twists and turns that this story takes makes me even more excited to see it brought to life. The fact that they've cast Kingsley - who seems to be injecting quite a bit of humanity into the notorious Nazi executioner - makes Weitz's film even more intriguing, as it'd be way easier to just portray Eichmann as a simple monster, when in reality he was an intellectually complex man driven by the belief that he was actually aiding his country by enacting this terrible genocide.
Operation Finale hits theaters September 14th. Count this writer 100% in.
