It Is With a Heavy Heart That We Must Announce That INDIANA JONES 5 Has Been Delayed

Earlier today, our friends at Collider revealed that Solo: A Star Wars Story's Jonathan Kasdan was coming onboard to rewrite David Koepp's script for Indiana Jones 5. Now, just a few hours later, Deadline's dropped another piece of hot Indy-related gossip.

Namely, Indiana Jones 5 has been delayed.

According to Deadline, the film is being pushed back "by months, perhaps even a year", which means a) they're not hitting that July 10th, 2020 release date, b) they may not even start filming until 2020, and c) Harrison Ford will be, at best, a sprightly 76 years old when the cameras start rolling.

What's the hold-up all about? 

"Spielberg is in pre-production on a West Side Story remake and is also looking to direct Mark Rylance in the historical drama The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara."

Deadline also mentions that Jonathan Kasdan is expected to rewrite Koepp's script, but that his deal is not yet entirely signed (in a classic bit of Deadline monkey business, their report doesn't even mention the fact that Collider broke the Kasdan story in the first place). 

So, there you have it, gang: two mildly interesting Indiana Jones 5 updates in the space of just a few hours! Who knows what developments this evening might bring?
