Rumors Of BOND 25 Not Meeting Its Release Date May Have Been Exaggerated

Also, sounds like they've got a few good directors in mind...

A few hours ago, The Hollywood Reporter ran a piece wherein they made the following claim:

"With the abrupt exit of director Danny Boyle, the next installment in the James Bond film franchise — the untitled Bond 25— will miss its Nov. 8, 2019 release date in North American theaters, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter."

Turns out, THR may have been fed some questionable info: according to Deadline's sources, it's entirely possible for Bond 25 to still hit its November 2019 release date, assuming the production locates a director in the next sixty days. Not only that, but they claim to know who might be up for the gig:

"I’ve heard an approach was made to Jean-Marc Vallee, who followed Dallas Buyers Club with the limited series Big Little Lies and Sharp Objects. I’ve heard his participation is unlikely due to scheduling. The other two helmers who were on a short list are Hell Or High Water‘s David Mackenzie and Yann Demange, the ’71 director who helmed White Boy Rick. If any of those filmmakers accepted, chances are Bond 25 would keep its date, I’m told."

Alright, raise your hands if you had (checks notes) Jean-Marc Vallee, David Mackenzie or Yann Demange in the "Who Will Direct Bond 25?" pool. Go on, raise 'em. Nobody? Well, neither did we, but we're intrigued to hear those are the names being bandied about. Of course, this information arrives mere hours after we were told that Bond 25 wasn't going to make its November 2019 release date, so who knows if any of this information is legit.

Once again, the production of Bond 25 is a fascinating whirlwind, and we're just along for the ride. Here's hoping that everything remains on track, that producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson find a director they like, and that the film's able to hit theaters on schedule: after all this chatter, we're positively dying to see what shape Bond's next adventure will take.

Stay tuned for yet another Bond 25 update, which'll probably arrive in the next hour or so.
