UPDATED: BOND 25 Will Not Meet Its November 2019 Release Date

UPDATE: Deadline is now reporting that Bond 25 may yet hit its November 2019 release date, assuming they can locate a director in the next 60 days. Furthermore, it sounds like they're actively pursuing several candidates. Read more about that here. We're leaving the following up for posterity.

Earlier today, our resident James Bond expert, Jof Gurd, offered up a variety of thoughts on Danny Boyle's abrupt exit from the as-yet-untitled Bond 25. Included in that post was a bit of concern about what Boyle's departure might mean for the film's release date, which had been set for November of next year.

Well, about that...

"With the abrupt exit of director Danny Boyle, the next installment in the James Bond film franchise — the untitled Bond 25— will miss its Nov. 8, 2019 release date in North American theaters, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter."

That's THR breaking the news that Bond 25 will not be running on time (they go on to speculate that the film might not hit until 2020). The project's next order of business is to find a script everyone's happy with and a suitable director, and there's not telling how long that'll take. 

Assuming this is correct, one supposes Daniel Craig is still onboard, as his name was front and center on the announcement made about Boyle's departure, but it also seems possible that a delay - particularly one pushing the production back months, if not an entire year - could cause some friction there. For the time being, we're assuming Craig's still gonna be the guy in the tux, but we'll let you know if anything changes on that front.
