VIDEO: Ryan Gosling Visibly Squirms Upon Being Asked If He’d Play Batman

WHATCHU TRYING TO HIDE, BABY GOOSE?

Damien Chazelle's First Man premiered to a rapturous response at this year's Toronto International Film Festival (it's sitting at a strong 91% on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of this writing), racking up a ton of buzz and maybe even a little (premature) awards season chatter.

The whole thing was going great, right up until the film's cast and crew sat down with the folks at Variety to discuss the film on camera. That's when someone asked the question that, if this footage is any indication, Ryan Gosling fears more than any other: would he consider playing Batman?

Just look at our dude's response to this:

To be fair, this probably means nothing - in all likelihood, Gosling's open to the idea but maybe only under certain conditions, and doesn't wanna drag all those particulars out on camera - but it's definitely interesting to see how he reacts here, right? Poor Baby Goose is positively squirming in that chair!

On what's probably an unrelated note, we still don't know who'll be headlining Matt Reeves' forthcoming The Batman. A few names seem to be popular amongst prognosticators (Jake Gyllenhaal's name seems to come up a lot, though his upcoming stint in the MCU's Spider-Man: Far From Home has us thinking that's a smidge unlikely), and of course Gosling's name has popped up from time to time in relation to the role (if only in a "What about Gosling?" capacity), and of course we can totally imagine Gosling agreeing to don the cowl if someone like Matt Reeves were in the director's chair, but none of that means anything. Affleck could still come back, after all, as unlikely as that seems.

Still, though...interesting response from Gosling here.
