Werner Herzog Filmed A Secret Role For An Unknown Franchise Movie

Let's see if we can figure out which one it is.

Werner Herzog, legendary director and operator of the world's greatest ASMR YouTube channel, is up in Toronto right now with a brand-new documentary by the name of Meeting Gorbachev. It is, as you've probably already surmised, about Werner Herzog meeting former Russian head of state Mikhail Gorbachev.

While promoting this new project, Herzog's also been doing interviews, and during the one he sat for with IndieWire a particularly compelling piece of Werner Herzog mythology revealed itself:

"At TIFF, the director told IndieWire that he would soon act in “a big franchise film, about which I’m not supposed to say anything,” he said. “I can only say the title. The code name is ‘Huckleberry.’” He chuckled. “For god’s sake, that’s only a cover,” he said."

If Werner Herzog did, in fact, shoot a secret role in an upcoming franchise film currently codenamed Huckleberry, there's gotta be someone out there who knows what that movie is (the crew members shooting Return of The Jedi didn't really think they were making a movie called Blue Harvest). If you happen to be such a person, drop us a line, because we have no goddamn idea what movie this could be.

Maybe he's got a voiceover - or, hell, even a full-blown role - in the Infinity War sequel? Hobbs and Shaw isn't filming under a faux name, it it? If so, maybe Herzog's in it playing himself, and will become the most unlikely Fast and Furious family member* of all time. Maybe Huckleberry is actually a Tombstone sequel and Werner Herzog will be playing a cantankerous prospector's ghost. Maybe they've secretly resurrected the Dark Universe and Werner Herzog's gonna play The Wolfman. You don't know.

But maybe you have guesses! Sound off with yours in the comments below, and stay tuned for more on this one as it becomes available. We'll let you know if we hear anything confirmable.
