Something Witchy This Way Comes: Mondo’s SUSPIRIA Poster Rules

Let Mother take care of you.

Disclosure: Mondo and BMD are both owned by the Alamo Drafthouse.

We're only a month and change away from the arrival of Luca Guadagnino's Suspiria, and hype levels around the BMD offices have hit an all-time high. We've loved the footage we've seen, we've loved the trailers, we love the talented team Guadagnino assembled to pull this thing off. The only thing we're missing is a stunning Mondo poster to commemorate the film's arrival.

Oh, what's this?

Suspiria by Sara Deck
24" x 36" / Edition of 275
Printed by DL Screenprinting / $50

This is Sara Deck's stunning Suspiria poster, which Mondo will be releasing online sometime next week. Obviously, with only 275 copies to go around, it's likely this one's gonna sell out fast, so my advice to you - as always - is to be very vigilant about monitoring Mondo's homepage (at the very least, you should follow the Mondo Twitter handle for on-sale updates). I'm not sure how I'm gonna manage to do that during Fantastic Fest, but goddamnit I intend to find a way.

Here's what Deck has to say about the piece:

“I can’t think of anything more exciting than getting to provide artwork for a film that you were already eagerly anticipating seeing. I will admit to an extreme bout of nerves prior to finally sitting down to work out some concepts for the final print. In the end, Suspiria had ample disturbingly beautiful visuals to offer up, so it was less a struggle and more a pleasure to interpret. Of all of the concepts that I came up with, I am so happy that we went forward with this one. This image to me reflects the unsettling tension surrounding Mme. Blanc and her desire. With palms up imploring the viewer, and face veiled hiding her true intentions. This film is so much more than a remake.”

What do you folks think? Gonna try for one of these when they land online? Gonna hold off until you've actually seen Suspiria (which, by the way, hits theaters on October 26th) before tracking one down? Sound off in the comments below, and stay tuned for more from Mondo - and more on Suspiria - in the weeks ahead.
