Fire Up The DMX: Here’s The CREED II Trailer

There's a lot happening in the new trailer for Creed II. Adonis (Michael B. Jordan) and Bianca (Tessa Thompson) seem to be married (or at least living together) and have a baby. Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) has transitioned into full-blown "Mickey Mode" (which he was arguably in for the last third of Ryan Coogler's first film). Baby Creed's obviously the champ now, living that Rocky IV life with robots and shit. 

Also like Rocky IV, a big bad Russian is coming for that ass. Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) has trained his son Viktor (Florian Munteanu) to become a crippling force in the ring. Since we all know how that ended for Adonis' dad, it looks like new director Steven Caple Jr.'s picture has set a collision course for the two brawlers. Whether that does it for you or not is up to the individual viewer.

That's certainly a Rocky sequel! To be honest, I'm 100% on board until the DMX drops in, then I'm not vibing with the melodrama anymore. Just felt like a weird choice when you have Bill Conti's old brass sitting right there in the archive, waiting to bring us back to that old boxer mindset in a better fashion than any pop track can. *Sigh*

Anyway, Creed II hits theaters this Thanksgiving Season, and will probably make me cry a lot, because I love these characters so much (and if you weren't reduced to rubble by the line "...that I'm not a mistake"  during the initial chapter's climax, please consider seeking therapy).
