Sly Stallone’s Still Doing That RAMBO VS. MONSTER Movie (Minus The RAMBO Part)

You may recall hearing, somewhere along the line, that Sylvester Stallone was interested in doing a movie called Rambo: The Savage Hunt, which would've found John Rambo doing battle with an alien creature, or a monster, or some silly-ass shit like that. The concept was so weird, we couldn't help but be excited about it.

But then Stallone opted to do a different new Rambo movie, one in which he will dress like a cowboy and, presumably, do battle with a new assortment of conspicuously not-white villains (don't worry, we're absolutely positive it won't be problematic in any way). But get this: that Rambo VS. Monster movie? It's not quite dead! According to Deadline, Stallone's still very keen to star in the film - he'll probably just do it without playing John Rambo.

Says Deadline:

"Also in the works is Stallone’s long-gestating Hunter adaptation based on the novel by James Byron Huggins. Stallone bought film rights to Hunter in 2009 reportedly with the idea to incorporate it into a Rambo story line. The book centers on Nathaniel Hunter, whose hyper-tracking skills are employed to hunt down a raging beast, a half-human terror created by a renegade agency that is threatening to wreak havoc on civilization."

You'll note that Deadline doesn't explicitly say this won't be a Rambo movie, but that's what we're inferring from the above. We'd love to be proven wrong about that, truth be told, because the idea of John Rambo fighting a genetically-engineered superbeast is way more interesting than...y'know, someone named Nathaniel Hunter fighting a genetically-engineered superbeast. The Rambo element was the best part. 

Anyway, that's a thing that'll happen eventually. The script hasn't even been written yet, so it's probably a ways off. Rest assured, we'll keep you informed as further updates on Hunter (and Cowboy Rambo) roll in.
