All The Blood Is Shed: James DeMonaco Thinks THE PURGE Series Will End With Next Movie

This country is clean now.

We love The Purge movies here at BMD. They're this era's lunkheaded genre protest pictures, full of incendiary images and raging ultra-violence. They could go on forever, and we'd be happy, as long as creator James DeMonaco (who's written all four and directed three) keeps finding creative ways to widen the scope on this twisted vision of America.

Well, it seems DeMonaco may be done with his bloody Divided States of America, as in a new interview with EW he says this about the fifth installment:

“I have it in my head. I think I’m going to write it. I think it’s a great way to end it all. We want to end it all, I think, in this one, and I’m very excited. When I came up with the idea and pitched it to everybody, they seemed psyched, and I think it will be a really cool ending, how we take this one home.”

Damn. Can't say we're not a touch bummed to hear these words coming out of the exploitation writer/director's mouth, but all nasty things must come to a close. To be fair, we still haven't checked out the recent Purge TV series (which we're not sure will continue past this single season). Seeing how DeMonaco is the creator on that, as well, chances are it's being included in his statement.

But what do you think the final Purge will be? We honestly have no idea. After The First Purge went full blown insurrectionary insanity, there's no telling what the hell the final cleansing will look like.

Stay tuned, fellow Purgers, and get your masks ready.
