David Fincher’s LOVE, DEATH & ROBOTS Is Headed To Netflix

David Fincher hasn't made a feature film since 2014's Gone Girl, but that's not to say ya mans hasn't been busy: that World War Z sequel is still (allegedly) on the table, the sixth season of House of Cards just wrapped up, and the second season of Netflix's Mindhunter should be along sometime this year.

Oh, and it seems he's also been working on an animated anthology series for Netflix alongside Deadpool's Tim Miller.

Called Love, Death & Robots, the series is comprised of 18 animated shorts covering a number of genres, including sci-fi, horror, comedy and fantasy. These shorts are intended for an adult audience, with each one created by a different team of filmmakers from around the world. According to The Hollywood Reporter, we'll be getting episodes centered around "sentient dairy products, werewolf soldiers" and "robots gone wild." 

Says Miller, who's executive producing alongside Fincher:

“Love, Death & Robots is my dream project. It combines my love of animation and amazing stories. Midnight movies, comics, books and magazines of fantastic fiction have inspired me for decades, but they were relegated to the fringe culture of geeks and nerds of which I was a part. I’m so fucking excited that the creative landscape has finally changed enough for adult-themed animation to become part of a larger cultural conversation.”

It's not entirely surprising that Fincher's spearheading something like this; the guy's been looking to get into the animated arena for a while now. At one point he was trying to launch a Heavy Metal reboot (all things considered, Love, Death & Robots may well be that project with a new name) and also toyed with the idea of adapting Arthur C. Clarke's Rendezvous With Rama as a CGI animated feature (we're still hoping he does that one).

Nothing further to report at this time, but we're very curious about this one, and will be keeping our ear to the ground for further updates. Stay tuned.
