It’s Official: FX Just Ordered Y: THE LAST MAN To Series

Only downside: we're gonna be waiting for a minute.

Remember that Y: The Last Man series FX was futzing around with? Last we'd heard, a pilot had been ordered with Barry Keoghan and Diane Lane headlining the cast, but in the months since we've heard precious few updates on the show. Today we've got one, though, and it's exciting.

According to Deadline, FX has ordered Y: The Last Man to series. Starring Keoghan, Lane, Imogen Poots, Amber Tamblyn and a number of other talented actresses, the series will tell the story of Yorick (Koeghan), a young man who wakes up one day to discover that every dude on the planet has mysteriously died, leaving him in a world entirely populated by women. Obviously this creates some issues for Y, so he sets off to solve the mystery (and avoid being caught, killed or worse along the way) with his pet monkey, Ampersand.

The original comic series, from Brian K. Vaughan, is absolutely fantastic and worth seeking out, and the series is being written by Blade Runner 2049's Michael Green, who'll serve as a co-showrunner alongside Luke Cage's Aïda Mashaka Croal. All of this is worth getting hyped about.

Here's the only downside: Deadline's report says we won't actually see Y: The Last Man until next year. Kind of a bummer to wait that long to get a look at it, but we're excited to learn FX is moving forward with this one, and are dying to see what it looks like in action (that photo above is our first look at the series, period, but isn't terribly dynamic).

Stay tuned for more on Y: The Last Man as further updates roll in.
