New WOLFENSTEIN: YOUNGBLOOD Trailer Understands That Killing Nazis Is Good
In the past few years, has there been a more therapeutic video franchise than MachineGames’ Wolfenstein series? I submit to you that there has not.
Here's a franchise that establishes its terms so simply ("Shooting Nazis is Good") and with such pulpy genre style (the twist that occurs roughly halfway through Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus was flat-out excellent), it's hard to imagine anyone disliking them. And yet, the year is 2019, so you will probably not be surprised to learn that a certain segment of the gaming population is still not onboard with what Wolfenstein is selling.
Chances are, such people's opinions will not be swayed by the latest trailer for Wolfenstein: Youngblood, which was just announced as hitting PC, Switch and consoles on July 26th.
So, as you can see, the latest Wolfenstein will have you fighting as one of BJ Blazkowicz’s twin daughters, Jessica and Sophia, in a Nazi-occupied version of 1980's Paris. From the looks of this trailer, the environments will be just as colorful, the weapons just as explosive, and the Nazis eminently shootable as they were in MachineGames' previous Wolfenstein titles.
Also, in an interesting wrinkle, publisher Bethesda has announced that Wolfenstein: Youngblood will be shareable among friends, sort of. Here's Polygon breaking that down for us:
"Someone has to buy Wolfenstein: Youngblood’s Deluxe Edition, and then share its “Buddy Pass” with a pal, and the two of them have to be playing the game together at the same time. But the second person will still be able to experience all of the game for free, Bethesda said. The Buddy Pass may also be shared among multiple friends, although only one at a time may play with the owner.
