The New SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK Trailer Just Arrived
This week, CBS Films rolled out two new posters for André Øvredal's Scary Stories to Tell in The Dark, based on the legendary novels of the same name by Alvin Schwartz. We looked upon those posters and saw that they were good. Nightmarish, even.
But the real draw this week has been the promise of a new Scary Stories to Tell in The Dark teaser trailer, which the studio's been not-so-subtly hinting would land sometime this week. Looks like that time is now.
Take a look.
So, not much different than the teaser trailers we've already seen! You've got some shots of the Pale Lady in there, a little bit of Harold, a bit of the unfortunate young lady whose face explodes with baby spiders in "The Red Spot". There's a slightly greater sense to Scary Stories to Tell in The Dark's plotline, which seems to involve some kids investigating a haunted book of some sort, but that's really the only new addition here. This teaser's not disappointing, per se, but we do wish it'd shown us a fun new familiar faces (then again, maybe these are the familiar faces we should expect; further Scary Stories characters may have been set aside for the inevitable sequel).
All in all, we're still looking forward to this one - excited, even! - but it feels like it's time to pull out all the stops and really freak us out. Let's hope we get a bit of that in the film's first full-length trailer. Stay tuned.
Scary Stories to Tell in The Dark hits theaters on August 9th.
