GAME OF THRONES’ Bronn Is Headed To THE DARK TOWER

With Game of Thrones coming to an end, it's inevitable that we're going to see its various cast members heading off to new projects, some of which might even stand a chance of being one-third as popular as HBO's mega-successful fantasy series. For instance: today we're learning that Jerome Flynn, who plays fan-favorite Game of Thrones character Bronn, will next appear in Amazon's long-gestating adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower.

Here's Flynn himself saying as much in a recent interview with The Mirror:

“Game of Thrones has opened doors to some great stuff. I’m getting offered stuff I never would have.”

And his next part is another fantasy – one of his own. He will play a cowboy in the dramatisation of Stephen King’s seven-book Dark Tower series.

Jerome says: “I’ve always said I’d like to play a cowboy – and now one has come along. I’m excited for that.”

As we previously reported, Amazon's Dark Tower series will follow a slightly different path than King's epic series: rather than kicking off with the events depicted in that series' first novel, The Gunslinger, Amazon's take will remix elements of the Dark Tower mythology while mostly focusing on the adventures of a young Roland Deschain. Quite basically, they're starting somewhat more chronologically, with Wizard and Glass.

This narrows down who Flynn might be playing: there are roles for the Big Coffin Hunters, Steven Deschain (who we'll meet back in Gilead) and the various gunslingers who operate under Deschain's employ. It's easy to imagine Flynn in any of these roles, of course, but we're keeping our fingers crossed for Jonas, the delightfully slimy villain who acts as the leader of the Big Coffin Hunters. That seems like a part Flynn would have a lot of fun with.
