GAME OF THRONES: HOUSE OF THE DRAGON To Conquer Screens In 2022
While speaking with Variety, HBO chief of programming Casey Bloys spoke on the potential timelines for some of the channel's most anticipated shows. While his comments on new Watchmen were a little uncertain, Bloys was at least willing to give a release year for the Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon.
Bloys said his "best guess" is that the Targaryen prequel series will premiere some time in 2022, which isn't very surprising. While the spin-off has been in some form of development since 2017, it was only picked up last October. Television pilot production schedules would demand that this project take a while to complete, especially one as massive and effects-driven as Thrones. If you're one of the lucky few who is still begging for more Thrones, then you're going to have to wait a bit.
On the bright side, A Song of Ice and Fire book fans have some content coming much sooner. George R.R. Martin recently announced that he has completed the paperback editions of Fire & Blood: Volume One, and it will be released May 5, 2020. The wait is over!
