And Now LOBO Is Getting His Own TV Series
You may recall, back in October of last year, the reveal that DC Comics character Lobo was joining Syfy's Krypton series. On the off-chance that you do not watch Krypton or recall this news, allow me to refresh your memory with the photo below, which features Emmett J. Scanlan in full Lobo regalia.
Yes. We all remember that. How could we forget?
Well, according to Variety, Syfy is now developing a Lobo spin-off series, one which will presumably focus on the life, times and various misadventures of everyone's favorite intergalactic bounty hunter. Curiously, it seems somewhat undetermined as to whether or not Scanlan will reprise the role for the show (Variety's quoting NBC Universal as saying there are “no additional details” about casting at this time), though that would seem to be a safe bet.
Also undetermined: when we might actually see Syfy's Lobo. The show has only just entered the development stage, which means a whole bunch of things could happen between now and its arrival. Maybe they'll recast. Maybe they'll spruce up Lobo's look. Maybe they'll hire a director who implicitly understands the inherent goofiness of the Lobo character. Maybe they should just scrap this whole thing and let Michael Bay make a Lobo movie, like the Good Lord intended. For now, all we can do is speculate on these matters, cross our fingers, and hope for the best.
Stay tuned for further updates on Syfy's proposed Lobo series as they roll in.
