Here Are All The 2019 Emmy Nominees We Could Fit In A Single Post

It's the middle of the calendar year, which means it's Emmys season. This morning saw the announcement of the nominees for television's most-coveted but surprisingly-numerous awards, with Game of Thrones, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, and Chernobyl leading the drama, comedy, and limited series categories, respectively. As with many recent years, there was a lot of good TV this year, and the nominee list is very strong indeed.

The list is also very long indeed, as every single craft category is repeated across comedy, drama, limited, short-form, and variety/talk shows. So in the interests of avoiding a slippery slope of information overload that leads to browsers crashing, we won't be posting them all here. But there's a link at the bottom of this post where you can peruse them to your heart's content. Here are the nominees in the categories considered "key" by the Emmys:

Game of Thrones leads the nominations with 32, a new record that includes nine acting nominations; runners-up are The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, with 20, and Chernobyl, with 19. Other shows with ten or more nominations include Saturday Night Live, Barry, Fosse/Verdon, When They See Us, Russian Doll, Escape At Dannemora, Fleabag, The Handmaid's Tale, and Our Planet.

HBO has the most nominations for any network, with 137, followed by Netflix with 117; the next-closest is NBC, with 58. This is notable for two reasons: HBO took back the lead in nominations this year after Netflix led last year, and both juggernauts expanded their nominations over last year, while NBC's haul dropped by 20.

Actors scoring their first-ever Emmy nominations this year include: Gwendoline Christie, Sophie Turner, Alfie Allen, and Carice van Houten, for Game of Thrones; Sam Rockwell, Margaret Qualley, and Michelle Williams, for Fosse/Verdon; Stellan Skarsgård and Emily Watson, for Chernobyl; Hugh Grant and Ben Wishaw, for A Very English Scandal; Anthony Carrigan and Stephen Root, for Barry; Paul Dano and Benicio del Toro, for Escape From Dannemora; Amy Adams, for Sharp Objects; Kumail Nanjiani, for The Twilight Zone; Nick Offerman, for Making It; Rosamund Pike, for State of the Union; Kristin Scott Thomas, for Fleabag; and Michael McKean, for Better Call Saul.
