The Final Trailer For Amazon’s THE BOYS Might Be The Best One Yet

Word on the street is, this one's excellent.

This is the third time I've written up a trailer for Seth Rogen, Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg's forthcoming Amazon series based on The Boys, the Garth Ennis comic series of the same name. As a non-fan of that book, I was skeptical when The Boys was announced. The first trailer softened that skepticism a bit. The second one, which featured Karl Urban holding a baby with lasers shooting out of its eyeballs, dulled my skepticism even more. I'm only human.

Now we have a final trailer, and I'll ya what: between this and the wildly positive things I've heard about the show from friends who've seen it, I am now fully committed to giving The Boys a shot when it hits Amazon later this week. Take a look and see if you don't agree:

This looks not an exceptionally well-executed take on Ennis' source material. Of course it's still possible that The Boys: The Series will annoy me in the same way that The Boys: The Comic annoyed me (which is to say: by leaning far too heavily on "shocking" material), but I've heard that's been toned down a smidge for the Amazon version. Obviously, they haven't toned it too far down, but even a little would go a long way for me on this one.

As you've surely gathered by now, The Boys tells the story of an everyday guy who finds himself aligned with a crew of exceptionally violent vigilantes (the titular "Boys") who make it their mission to police - and, when necessary, take down - out of control superheroes. It's a satire of the superhero genre just as much as it is a hyperviolent love letter to them.

Where are y'all at on this one? Eager to check it out? Not so much? Did you read the comics, and if so, what'd you think of those? Sound off in the comments below, and stay tuned for more on The Boys as further updates become available (and there will be further updates: Amazon's already greenlit a second season for this one. That's gotta be a good sign, right?).
