At Long Last, THE IRISHMAN Trailer Is Here
Well, they finally released a trailer for Martin Scorsese's The Irishman.
Let's skip the preamble and get straight to it, shall we?
As most of you already know, Martin Scorsese's been trying to get The Irishman made for years, and it's pretty exciting to see that he's finally done it. Based on Charles Brandt's I Heard You Paint Houses, Scorsese's latest revolves around Frank Sheeran, a mafia hitman who's alleged to have carried out dozens of murders over the course of his career. As you also probably already know, Scorsese's employed quite a bit of digital de-aging technology here, most notably on star Robert De Niro. Word 'round the campfire is, these VFX were extensive, expensive and among the many reasons this film has had such a long trip through production.
Here's an official plot synopsis:
"Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci star in Martin Scorsese’s THE IRISHMAN, an epic saga of organized crime in post-war America told through the eyes of World War II veteran Frannk Sheeran, a hustler and hitman who worked alongside some of the most notorious figures of the 20th century. Spanning decades, the film chronicles one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in American history, the disappearance of legendary union boss Jimmy Hoffa, and offers a monumental journey through the hidden corridors of organized crime: its inner workings, rivalries and connections to mainstream politics."
So now that this trailer's here and we can all pour over it, what do you think? Are those digital de-aging effects cutting the mustard? Are you into the story being told here? How excited are you to see De Niro onscreen with Joe Pesci again? There's much to discuss, so let's all head on down to the comments and weigh in.
The Irishman will arrive later this year in select theaters and on Netflix.
