Denis Villeneuve’s DUNE Will Now Arrive Just A Smidge Later Than Expected

Here's a small update on Denis Villeneuve's Dune which you may have missed heading into last weekend: per Deadline, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have pushed the film's arrival back from one month, taking Villeneuve's would-be sci-fi blockbuster from November 20th of next year to December 18th. Please update your schedules accordingly.

What's behind the move? No reason was given for the adjustment, but one might reasonably assume that Warner Bros. wanted to move Dune further away from Marvel's star-studded The Eternals, which is set to bow earlier that same month. It will now go up against Steven Spielberg's West Side Story, Sony's long-gestating Uncharted movie, and Paramount's highly-anticipated Coming to America sequel.

Being forced to wait one more month for Denis Villeneuve's Dune is, of course, a bitter pill to swallow, but at least it's a small one (if they pushed this thing to the following summer, we'd be straight-up despondent), and if nothing else this now means I have one extra month to finally read Frank Herbert's original novel, a task I am all but guaranteed to put off until the last possible second, because planning well is not one of my strengths. This is my problem, not yours.
