Eddie Murphy Becomes A Legend In The DOLEMITE IS MY NAME Trailer

Damn, this cast is stacked.

With an insane cast led by Eddie Murphy, a script by Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander (The People V. O.J. SimpsonEd Wood), and directed by Craig Brewer (Black Snake Moan), Netflix's Dolemite Is My Name is easily one of our most anticipated films of the fall. Ahead of its premiere at TIFF in September, Netflix has dropped the first trailer for the upcoming Rudy Ray Moore biopic, in which Murphy takes on what may be his best role in years:

Set in the ’70s, Dolemite Is My Name follows Moore, a struggling performer who's tried just about everything to make a name for himself with little success. Undeterred by his failures, Moore has one more crazy idea – and this one just might work: Dolemite. Moore's fictional alter ego – a martial arts expert/pimp – could be his ticket to the top, so the actor sets about recruiting a crew to bring his creation to the big screen. Spoiler: It's a hit. Co-starring Craig Robinson, Mike Epps, Titus Burgess, Keegan-Michael Key, and Luenell, Dolemite Is My Name is set to premiere at TIFF next month before heading to Netflix. Hopefully this will be one we can catch on the big screen, the way Moore himself would've intended.
