Netflix Just Ordered An Animated Comedy Called AGENT KING
In what may be the weirdest story we've come across this week (which is saying something!), Deadline has just announced a new animated Netflix series by the name of Agent King. If you're looking at that header photo and wondering if Agent King is an animated comedy wherein Elvis Presley becomes a secret agent who flies around on a jetpack stopping evildoers, the answer is yes.
Per Deadline:
"Co-created by [Priscilla] Presley and [John] Eddie, in the series, Elvis Presley trades in his white jumpsuit for a jet pack when he is covertly inducted into a secret government spy program to help battle the dark forces that threaten the country he loves — all while holding down his day job as the King Of Rock And Roll."
This whole thing has the distinct feel of an animated Comedy Central series circa 2002, but that doesn't mean it won't be any good, or that we won't be tuning in to check it out. Elvis projects aren't exactly a dime a dozen these days (though The King does have one major feature film headed our way), and we're curious to see what the hell this show is up to.
Says executive producer Priscilla Presley:
“From the time Elvis was a young boy he always dreamed of being the superhero fighting crime and saving the world! Agent King lets him do just that. My co-creator John Eddie and I are so excited to be working with Netflix and Sony Animation on this amazing project and getting the chance to show the world an Elvis they haven’t seen before.”
Weird, but also maybe our kind of weird.
Nothing further to report at this time, but rest assured we'll be keeping an eye out for further Agent King updates, and will put 'em in front of you just as soon as they land on our radar. Stay tuned.
