Tracy Morgan Just Joined The Cast Of COMING TO AMERICA 2

This cast just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Seems like every time you turn around, Paramount's adding another cast member to Craig Brewer's highly-anticipated Coming to America sequel. First Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall signed on to reprise their iconic roles from that 1988 comedy classic. Then they roped in Wesley Snipes, Lesley Jones and Rick Ross. Last week we learned that most of the players from the original cast are also coming back, including James Earl Jones and Paul Bates, and today we're learning of yet another new cast member - Tracy Morgan.

The news comes to us from Deadline, who don't have any specifics regarding Morgan's character but do offer up the following plot synopsis, for anyone who hasn't been keeping tabs on this one:

"In the sequel, Akeem (Eddie Murphy) is set to become King of Zamunda but discovers he has a son he never knew about in America – a street-savvy Queens native named Lavelle. Honoring his father’s dying wish to groom this son as the crowned prince, Akeem and Semmi (Arsenio Hall) set off to America to meet the unlikely heir."

As always, we remain skeptical that Coming to America needs a sequel, but for the time being we're choosing to remain hopeful. Probably not the smartest move we've ever made (we really don't need to explain how rare good comedy sequels are, do we?), but until we start seeing footage, we're wishing for the best. Here's hoping they pull it off.

Coming to America 2 hits theaters on December 18th, 2020. Stay tuned for further updates as they roll in.
