Here’s A New JURASSIC WORLD Short To Tide You Over Until The Next Movie
Well, the folks at Universal have been teasing this one for the past week, and now it's finally made its way online: a brand-new Jurassic World short, directed by Colin Trevorrow and starring André Holland and Natalie Martinez. The next Jurassic World movie (also directed by Trevorrow) won't be along until 2021, so this is a fun little bonus for dino heads.
Here's the synopsis:
"BATTLE AT BIG ROCK takes place one year after the events of the last film in Big Rock National Park, where dinosaurs are now living in our world. The story follows a family of four whose encounter with these wild animals becomes a terrifying fight for survival."
And here's the short:
This is pretty good! Battle at Big Rock feels like a set piece from a lost Jurassic Park movie (I got strong The Lost World/trailer sequence vibes from this), and may offer us a glimpse at whatever Trevorrow and company have planned for the next one. It's definitely right in line with something Trevorrow said last year, about what the dinos are up to now in the Jurassic timeline:
“I just have no idea what would motivate dinosaurs to terrorize a city. They can’t organize. Right now we’ve got lethal predators in wild areas surrounding cities all over the world. They don’t go pack hunting for humans in urban areas. The world I get excited about is the one where it’s possible that a dinosaur might run out in front of your car on a foggy backroad, or invade your campground looking for food. A world where dinosaur interaction is unlikely but possible—the same way we watch out for bears or sharks.
We hunt animals, we traffic them, we herd them, we breed them, we invade their territory and pay the price, but we don’t go to war with them. If that was the case, we’d have lost that war a long time ago.”
What do y'all think? Enjoy the short? Not so much? Are you about burned out on Jurassic stuff, or would you prefer this franchise go on forever? Sound off in the comments below, and stay tuned for more on Jurassic World 3 (or whatever it ends up being called) as further updates become available.
