They’re Rebooting BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Again

A new BATTLESTAR is headed to NBC's Peacock streaming service.

Here's an unexpected thing to wake up to: the news that NBCUniversal's new streaming platform, which has now been named Peacock (woof), will play home to a brand-new reboot of Glen Larson's classic 1978 sci-fi series, Battlestar Galactica. Yes, the same Battlestar Galactica that Ronald D. Moore rebooted (with excellent results) for SyFy back in the mid-'00s.

The new Battlestar Galactica is headed our way via showrunner Sam Esmail, who has an overall deal with Universal that already includes USA's Mr. Robot and Briarpatch, as well as Amazon's Homecoming. According to Deadline, Esmail also has a limited series based on Fritz Lang's Metropolis in the works, as well as something called Angelyne, starring Emmy Rossum. Dude's very busy!

Peacock is said to be launching in April of next year, and the indication is that the new Battlestar could be ready to go by then. Guess we'll have to wait and see, but we're very curious to hear how this shakes out. Who's gonna star in it? How many episodes are we talking? Will Peacock drop all its at once, or weekly, a la CBS All Access? Many questions, precious few answers. Stay tuned for those as they roll in.
