John Turturro Just Joined THE BATMAN As Carmine Falcone

Probably not in this outfit, though.

Here's yet another excellent bit of The Batman casting news to end your week with: according to The Hollywood Reporter, John Turturro has joined the cast of Matt Reeves' film in the role of Carmine Falcone, notorious Gotham City crime lord and all-around pain in Batman's ass. The character was previously played by Tom Wilkinson in Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins, a fact which you didn't even remember until just now (I can hear you saying "Yes, I did" from here and, no, you didn't, and there's simply no way for you to prove otherwise).

Turturro joins The Batman's ever-expanding cadre of villains, which already includes Paul Dano as The Riddler, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman and Collin Ferrell as The Penguin. One suspects they're not done casting villains, either: word on the street suggests that Poison Ivy and Harvey Dent/Two Face may be joining this party, as well, but we'll just see on that front.

One character we haven't heard anything about is the Joker, and it's seeming increasingly unlikely that they may add the character to The Batman's cast. Would certainly be a curious move were Reeves to bring on every villain but the Clown Prince of Crime, but perhaps there's a narrative reason for that? I dunno. Really, we know nothing on that front, it's just fun to speculate about.

Anyhoo, nothing else to report at this time, but do stay tuned for further updates on The Batman as they become available. This thing's shaping up to be quite the piece of work.
