Peter Sarsgaard Just Joined The Cast Of THE BATMAN

So is he playing Two-Face or what?

Hey, it's Friday! Time for another The Batman casting announcement.

So far, the lineup for Matt Reeves' highly-anticipated film includes Robert Pattinson (as Batman), Paul Dano (as The Riddler), Zoe Kravitz (as Selina Kyle/Catwoman), Collin Ferrell (as The Penguin), John Turturro (as crime boss Carmine Falcone) and Andy Serkis (as Alfred), and now we can add Peter Sarsgaard to the list.

According to THR, Sarsgaard may be playing either "a corrupt cop named Wasserman or a district attorney", which means he could be playing one Harvey Dent, better known in some nefarious circles as Two-Face. As of this writing, however, there's no confirmation either way. Seems weird that they'd announce every other villain role but not Two-Face, but I suppose stranger things have happened.

Sarsgaard, as you well know, is no stranger to the comic book genre. All the way back in 2011, the actor played Hector Hammond in Martin Campbell's Green Lantern, where he appeared as a sweaty, increasingly evil scientist with some balls for a head (see photo above, try not to stare). Whoever he's playing in The Batman, he'll fit right in: the casting on this one's been excellent so far, just stacked to the rafters with top-shelf talent, and Sarsgaard's one of the best.

Nothing further to report at this time, but rest assured we will be covering every last goddamn The Batman casting announcement as the weeks go on. Who knows what next week might bring, or the week after that? Stay tuned to find out, and do sound off in the comments below if you've got anything interesting to add here.
