HBO’s THE PLOT AGAINST AMERICA Certainly Looks, Uh, Timely

A new series from the creator of THE WIRE seems likely to cause a stir.

We don't know when HBO's The Plot Against America will arrive, exactly, but whenever it does begin rolling out, I imagine it'll inspire a few discussions.

This six-part series (from The Wire's David Simon and Ed Burns), based on the best-selling novel of the same name from Philip Roth, imagines an alternate-history America, one where an anti-Semitic Charles Lindbergh ascends to the Presidency before guiding the country straight into the jaws of fascism. Yes, yes, I know - it's hard to imagine anything like that actually happening.

Here's the first trailer.

This looks top-notch, doesn't it? Beautifully shot and impressively cast (John Turturro and Winona Ryder and Zoe Kazan? HBO, you are speaking our language), we're guessing The Plot Against America will generate about as many Hot Takes as it will awards. It's a shame we don't have a premiere date yet, but I gather we'll have that sooner rather than later.

Stay tuned for more on The Plot Against America as further updates roll in. We're hyped for this one.
